My part of an ACEO trade with :iconnaaer:!
This lovely creature is her phoenix-dragon Te'vanos. She lives in mountains and loves fish!
:fish: :fish: :fish:

At first I tried to paint some kind of forested background for her but failed and went for my normal salt-watercolor background. I hope the result still gives an impression of something nature-like! Aaaand it was really fun to draw her feathers and shiny skin!

Beautiful! The shading give her skin/scales shine.

Good job as always! I often try the watercolor-salt technique to do backgrounds, but it never seems to work as well as when you do it, hahaha
You really managed to catch the smooth texture of the skin, as well as the softness of the feathers

Really? You have tried different amounts of water/paint/salt and nothing works? Maybe you have to try different brands of watercolors or different kind of salt then. I hope you'll make it work! ^^

And thank you kindly!

I guess the problem is the salt, since I use the big grains of salt. Maybe I should try smaller ones?

You are welcome! <3

Yeah, that could work, at least worth of trying! :dummy:

Awesome details! I love that feathers and blue with this red/orange mix looks totally awesome. Cold and warm colours give to this piece really awesome balance. Nice ACEO from you again! :3
