Here is a picture for :iconblackdiaraikia:!
This dragon is the third one of my Five Dragon Pictures project.

Here is the list I asked people to fill:
:bulletblack: (1) Color
:bulletblue: (2) Animal
:bulletorange: (3) Element
:bulletblue: (4) Age
:bulletblack: (5) Atmosphere

And here is what *BlackDiaraikia answered:
:bulletblack: (1) Orange
:bulletblue: (2) Jaguar
:bulletorange: (3) Air
:bulletblue: (4) Adult
:bulletblack: (5) Cute

I was wondering how would I add cuteness to this picture and then I figured out that what could be cuter than catching snowflakes with tongue! I also wanted to draw something wintery – although it would make more sense if jaguar-dragon had lived in a jungle but I guess fantasy creatures can live anywhere.

It was also interesting to learn what kind of spots jaguars have. I haven't been paying attention how different patterns different big cats are having! I have just thought they all have some kind of spots. So I also learned something new while drawing this pic.

Tools: Watercolors, colored pencils and white acrylic paint.

Awww this is adorable. <3 <3 <3

I love all the spots.

Hehe, now that I've started watercoloring myself a little, I've gained a greater appreciation for the way you balance saturation between the background and subject in your paintings/drawings. I don't know how you do it, but your colors always seem to work really well together, too.

Thanks a lot!

Really? I don't know either how I do it - I just pick the colors that are fitting together in my eyes. I am happy to hear that it works!

It turned out great! Nicely colored. Snowflake catching could be fun when flying.

awww, sulonen otus :meow: hyvin muuten sopii oranssin kanssa just toi sinisen sävy, erinomainen valinta. ja hauska idea itse loharissa, kivasti osasit yhdistellä BlackDiaraikian valintoja ja sait aikaan hauskan ja mielenkiintoisen olennon :D

Kiitos paljon!

Aw, I wish I could draw horns and claws like that!
I thought that big cats have either stripes or dots that look the same. Heh, guess I was wrong ;P

Aww, thank you! :aww:

Horns are actually one of my favorite parts in dragons; I just should be more creative with their shape. Now I have found a good design that I am just varying...

Phew, I am happy that I wasn't the only one who didn't know about those different kind of spots! :XD:

Very creative. I love your interpretation of the 5 point list. It fits so well. I like how it looks like fur on the back with a dragon's hard scales on the belly, bit strange yet cool.

Yup, different big cats have different spots. (yes, big cats are another thing I've studied)
