Here is my entry for #Cavitto
’s Easter/St. Patrick’s Day contest
I chose the theme of Egg Hunt and the eggs Thyella found are not laid by a hen or an Easter bunny...
Another uncertain question is that who is hunting who.
I incorporated the contest theme with my Thyella’s storyline. I haven’t written almost anything about her yet so this was a perfect opportunity to start telling her story.
Here is what happened right after she got kicked out from Mount Olympos:
The Fall across the skies was quick. Thyella didn’t even have time to realize what just happened when she already thumped on ground. Her sight came back gradually and what she saw made her think that she had hit her head badly and was hallucinating: – Eggs. Huge eggs, size of her head, lying in a nest which was carefully made of grass and different plants. The eggs had beautiful, swirling patterns and they radiated heat.
Thyella was mesmerized by the illusion but a sudden, high-pitched shriek above woke her back to reality. She looked up and saw a dragon winding on the sky. Her instincts told her to flee – but where? She had landed on a ledge which towered above clouds. Great and safe place for a dragon nest but poor place for a horse who had no wings…
Trying to figure out how to escape Thyella heard a low crack from the nest. Fascinated and forgetting threat coming above Thyella watched a little dragon breaking its way through shell. After getting its head out the creature couched and few fire sparks came out of its mouth. Then it laid its golden eyes on the very first living creature it saw: Thyella. They stared each other curiously – little dragon hatchling and a horse that had just fallen down from Heaven.
Shriek heard again, this time closer and louder. From the corner of her eye Thyella saw dragon gliding towards: the hatchling's mom had spotted an intruder near her nest. Thyella didn’t want to end up fried in dragon’s breath so she chose the second worse option and jumped off the cliff.
Little dragon watched the horse disappearing among clouds below. Its mother landed on ledge, sent a fire ball after intruder but thought that the drop would end the horse and didn't bother to go after. She could go later and pick up its carcass to feed her new born baby with it.
This time the fall felt like eternity.
When it finally ended it was not ground Thyella met but a cold mountain river. She splashed on water, sunk down but pushed herself back to surface.
Still alive and kicking!
