I think that you had Neriel on mind, even though you didn't know. It's a weird combo, but I like the contrast it makes and I think that these colors seem awesome together. I love how you made the hair and feathers, sometimes I am really sorry that I didn't choose something fluffy hairy and feathery as an avatar.
And what comes to feathery avatar/fursona/main oc; if you had one with lots of feathers and fur and other complex details it would be pain to draw her every time. Even if the design like that might look gorgeous, repeating it would take too much effort.
Hehe, that may be the truth, I should be glad that I have chosen such a simple avatar and made it variable so that I could play with the design whenever I paint her. I perhaps could try to paint her with fur once, but I'm not sure if it won't look non-nerielous and terrible - I'm a bit afraid of it.
Hey, that sounds like a great idea! It would be fun to see Neriel with fur - and if you don't like the result you can always destroy the picture and forget that you ever even tried. But I am sure it would just look interesting and cute.
Haha, that's surely an option.xD I guess that when I already painted her as a magpie nothing should scare me. But I still didn't get the Awesome Idea, drawing just a ball of fur without meaning is a bit boring for me, I would never finish that while considering it as a picture for myself. But as soon as I'll get the Idea, I'll try it, thank you for encouraging me.
Finally there it is! And i really like it how this turned out. The color combo is not very usual but looks great. AT least, i like it XD Especially the coloration of the tails is great. I like the transitions of the green/turquois into the yellow. I think just the mane looks a little bit pale. I'd have chosen a similar yellow as you used for the tail
I also like the colors of the background. the whoe picture reminds me of the feeling of an hot but wet summer day xD I don't know why. ^-^ Anyway, great job. Can't wait to see more pictures with 'weird' color combos
Your hot and wet summer day interpretation sounds nice; People have also mentioned ocean so maybe there is some kind of "warm day at a beach" going on... Hence pale mane could refer to sand! Nah, no explanations; I admit the mane could be brighter.
Oh and no worries, there definitely will be more weird color combinations in my drawings!
Okay I don't hate the combo of the colors on the horse in fact I'm wearing that exact combo today , they look gorgeous and that shade of green is just perfect for her. The only thing that's kinda itching me is the blue in the background. ..I guess maybe if the field of yellow was a bit wider it would set the horse a bit more free, this way it feels like the blue is about to swallow it up...I think...I mean... it's an wonderful peace of work and you haven't lost the touch for the colors at all! It's just... I feel like you struggled a bit while doing it...and I want to say, just relax! You are awesome at doing this!
I did struggle when doing this picture; I had a vision about the colors in my head when I had done the lineart but then I forgot the combo and after that nothing felt right. Should always start to color right away or atleast do a map what colors I was planned on using. Lesson learned!
Must remember your tip about not letting the background swallow the main subject next time. Also to relax is great advice - trying to do that too!
This is lovely. I don't know if you've ever heard of the site PonyIsland (if you haven't, check it out! I know it sounds girly but it really is wonderful), but they would love this colour combination. Pastel blues and yellows are very popular ATM. Also, I've missed your art!
