Trade: Carefree Summer Days by Agaave Trade: Carefree Summer Days by Agaave
It started from a picture where *Eleweth drew her character Eleweth and her boyfriend’s character Dekker with three little hybrid puppies.
I wanted to draw those adorable puppies some day so we decided to do an art trade.

My original plan was to finish this picture during my summer vacation – sketched it ages ago – but somehow my vacation just disappeared...
I think I could have used another month to get all the planned drawings done.

Here is finally my half where you can see the whole family enjoying a summer day by lake.
One puppy does not have wings but of course wants also go to a tree so Dekker is helping the little one getting there. :giggle:

Amazing work as always Agaave.  You really went into detail on this one, making it from good to extremely good.

The one thing I have to wonder, why hasn't that tree branch broken yet? Or at least dipped down.

Thank you very much! :happybounce:

Maybe that's one extra special strong tree? Or then the dragon is using his wings to help him balance so that the branch doesn't break.
But you're right; If the laws of the physics would have been followed the branch should be at least bending. :D

Size of dragon + size of branch + not bending = error.

In real world it would but luckily magic beats reality with a stick. Or with a staff. And shoots few fireballs after. :giggle:

THIS... THIS.... THIS IS AMAZING! :wow: I absolutelly love it - I saw it on my phone first (but I wasnīt able to comment that because... mobile DA is trolling me) and I stare on it every day. Itīs the... most beautiful picture which I ever get   I really canīt wait to have this picture in our wall (how big is it? I have to buy a frame!)
The atmosphere is great, you fit Dekkers face absolutelly right (even you never saw him thatīs cool :giggle:) and little hybrids are die for! :giggle: one big happy familly, I love that idea so much! :D I also love colouration as always (and your brilliant and original style ). I hope this is not our last trade I will do my part as soon as I can, I promise (I am just little busy right now -.-)!

I really thank you for this :tighthug: I am really happy for that. You totally made my.. not day, you hun, made my year! :XD:

Aww, it was totally my pleasure to draw this! Your and Dekker's characters and the whole lil' hybrid team is so inspiring.
I wanted to draw you a scene with lots of fun and action. I actually did another sketch too where the family is having a walk together, but my bf liked this one more so I trusted him and finished this one.
And now when this is ready I think he did a right choice! I probably won't color that another sketch but if you want I can send the picture to you with this piece. Maybe inking it or then just leave it as it is.
Oh and you asked the size; this is A4 (my scanner cannot handle bigger papers so I have to stick with this size).

I am really really happy that I you like this so much! Of course this is not our last trade; I think we have do one every year or at least every second. :D
No hurries with your half; take your time. I am sure it will be amazing when finished!

That original sketch would be awesome too! I am sure I will love it too  and of course about that inking - it depends on your mood and time
You can scann bigger that A4 :3 I normally do that (A3 and A2 too) and itīs not a problem if you have adobe photoshop. You just need to scann every piece of that paper and in PS is function which connect those pieces together without problems and you will not see any links ( eleweth.deviantart.com/art/Dra…   eleweth.deviantart.com/art/Rer… - A3 formats no time and no problems :D PS do it instead to you). :3 I can send you instructions if you want, itīs really childs play :D

Yay! I am glad to hear that! :boogie: I hope next time Iīll not so busy so Iīll not have delay with my part -.-"
Iīll do my best! :D

I actually don't have Photoshop; only Gimp. But I guess it would have similar feature if I just knew where and what to look for... ;P
Or then I could scan bigger art pieces at work; the scanner we have there could handle even size A2.
So it seems that not doing bigger than A4 because of my scanner is just an excuse. :XD:
Sometimes problems get solved when we just open our mouths and talk about them. :giggle:

I donīt know if Gimp have that feature... but hey! - If you want you want just scann bigger format and that pieces (in full resolution) send to me and Iīll use photoshop for connecting the together! It really doesnīt make problem to me. Iīll glad help you :3
Thatīs true XD but sometimes weīre afraid to do that XD ...one czech proverb says: "lazy mouth is bare misfortune" (donīt know if I translated it right, lol)

Wow, this picture is just breathtaking!
All those details and colors are just amazing. I love it how you drew the fur of the wolf characters. It looks so fluffy and soft :3 I just wanna touch it xD I also like the anatomy espeically of the dragon. You did a great job with the muscles.
The coloration is also just awesome especially the black parts. So soft and clean drawn :)
I just can reapeat my self. It's great how many details you put into this master piece! I don't know where to start. The small blue star like flowers, the gras, the bushes, the tree and its texture. All in all awesome job! I'm really jealous xD
I also love the background especially the clouds :3 I like it how you draw them ^-^
I don't know what's else  to say.
Just keep up the great work.
Can't wait to see with what you come up next ^-^

Aww, thank you very much!

Black is always challenging to color and especially difficult to scan so I am happy to hear that you like those parts!
I tried to add other colors on black part as well to make it more lively.

You also know how much I love details - both drawing them and looking at them in other people's pictures.
And in your pictures there are at least as much detailing as here so jealousy is definitely unnecessary! ;)

No problem :)

That's right. Black is very difficult. I think blue is one good color to mix it with black to let pictures look more lively.
But i haven't tried it yet. I'm too afraid of destroying the picture XD

Haha, thanks :3
I'm glad you think so ^-^

I usually use purple (and also blue sometimes) to shade black - solid black would look too heavy.
But I still don't get the result I want... So more practice is needed! :dummy:

But it could be a lot of fun. I always like it to experiment with colors and shadings (:

Indeed. Even though how wonderfull one's style is, it can get boring if that's all they ever produce.
But of course it would be easier to master something when staying in one style and techniques.

I am jumping back and forth with traditional and digital art and mixing and matching different tools so I guess I will never be brilliant with anything.
But I do art for fun and not for living so I guess it is the main thing to do what I enjoy myself. :D

Holy wow!  :faint:

I don't even know where to begin, there is so much amazing detail here.  I imagine this took forever.  Eleweth and Dekker look amazing, and those hybrid pups are so stinkin' cute.  I love how well you can portray different textures (dragon skin vs canine fur) - you really master traditional medium.   They look like such a happy family.

And that scenery!  :la:  There is so much detail there, I feel like everywhere I look I see something new each time I look around the image.  All the foreground foliage; the detailed tree with moss, flowers and fungi; and scenic background with the colorful lake and majestic mountains.  I love all of it.

And I love the purple/green hues here.  The entire thing is so beautiful.
love power

Thanks a lot! :dummy:

This really took some time but there is no-one but myself to blame: I am such detail addict!
I should let watercolors do their job and show their textures but I always have to add some extra shading and details with colored pencils... ;P

I am glad to hear that happiness shows; my goal was to create one idyllic moment where a family enjoying their time together without any worries.

Oh no (well, OK I guess you could let the watercolors do their job), but I really like all the detail you added to this.  It makes it such a fun piece to look at... something new everywhere I look on the image.  I love how full of life (animal and plant) it is.  :D

Definitely an awesome job done!
