Trade: Fox by Agaave Trade: Fox by Agaave
This is my half of a trade with sweet :iconkalmanen:.
Go and see her gallery for beautiful equines!

In this picture there is her gorgeous #Nordanner Vale's Avington, also known as Fox.
Fox has wonderful markings and before starting this picture I thought they would be bitch to draw but actually they were easy and fun to replicate.
Just bring me more dots - I can handle them! :dummy:

Nordanners are often seen with cut mane and tail but since Fox has them long, I wanted to still bring cut feeling to them and made the edges look even.
I think the effect looks quite nice and at least I managed to avoid drawing curly hair this time! ;P

Oh and look at the background: there are not just patterns and textures but also something you can call trees!
I hope you like it because I do, which means that there will probably be more watercolor trees in my artworks in the future. ^^
This awesome photo was my inspiration source and reference for background.

Love the coloring. You made me add "Promarkers" (or prismacolor markers) to my list.  I always hate the white dots of the paper that come through my drawing when using colored pencils.  I never thought to use markers.

What did you use for the black outline of the horse? Markers as well?

Yay, I am glad to hear that! :w00t:
Those white dots really are irritating and using markers and watercolors are helping a lot to avoid them. :D
And yes, I use marker for lineart as well: Pigma Micron pen. It is available in many tip sizes and can handle water - excellent pen for linearts in my opinion!

I really like the background in this one. It adds a warm and maybe nostalgic atmosphere to the picture. :)

And your drawing of Fox looks so happy and lively. :aww:

Thanks a lot! :floating:
Hmmm... I should try this kind of background again; it was fun and quite easy to do. Especially to remind myself that everything doesn't always have to be covered with tons of details. ;P

Yeah, I think this one worked quite nicely. :)

Sometimes less helps give the whole picture a better feeling of cohesion and completeness. It's nice that you press the limits on detailing backgrounds, since that's how you learn... but this sort of background can be very suitable for many of your drawings, it's a slightly different feel than the others but very nice.

Indeed, sometimes less is more - and that's a lesson I should definitely learn. :D
I am happy to hear that you think this kind of background style would fit with many of my drawings. ^^
